On Thursday, October 28 the inaugural meeting of the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Global Neighborhood Fund convened. The buzz was big and the schmoozing active as guests took their seats and were welcomed by Montecito residents and co-founders Connie Smith, Sandra Tyler and global activist Nancy Walker Koppelman. The room was filled to capacity with women of global vision to learn more about and view the award winning documentary “Iron Women of Liberia,” which focuses on Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first woman president. The film documents the tough challenges the small country experiences immediately following a 14-year civil war after President Sirleaf took office.
GNF is an all-volunteer collective giving education to its members and much needed support to its first focus region, Liberia. For more information contact dratyler@gmail.com or cocrama@cox.net.
